Position Overview:

 

Southwestern University has an immediate opening for a HVAC / BAS Technician. Reporting to the Manager of Central Utility Plants & HVAC Operations. This position oversees the installation, repair, operation, maintenance, and programming of building automation (BAS) systems and is responsible for the oversight, operation and maintenance of Central Plant equipment and distribution for HVAC, chilled and hot water (hydronic) and domestic systems. This is a full-time non-exempt position eligible for our comprehensive benefits program.

 

Essential Duties:

 

  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (Asset Essentials) to create, view, annotate, and complete assigned work orders daily using a personal or University assigned mobile device.
  • Respond to work orders and radio dispatches to make necessary repairs in a timely manner.
  • Manage the overall operation of the Central Plant and Building Automation systems.
  • Audit energy management reporting to ensure accurate reporting data.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance as assigned.
  • Perform inventory control of BAS parts and equipment.

 

Additional Duties:

 

  • Respond to after hour Facilities Management trouble calls.
  • Suggest best practices and highlight opportunities to improve efficiency and system reliability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Five years or more experience in a lead or essential central plant operational position.
  • Five years or more experience in troubleshooting, repairing and programming HVAC controls and EMS Systems.
  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of DDC controls and energy management systems, preferably Johnson Controls, Metasys Building Management System, Honeywell and Computrol.
  • Possess a minimum Type I, EPA Section 608 Technician Certification.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Five or more years’ experience assisting with preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment.
  • Five or more years’ experience maintaining inventory control of HVAC parts and equipment.
  • One year or more working for a DDC vendor.

 

Starting Pay: $24.88 hr. The final offer for the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience and may exceed the starting pay.
