In Dr. Dilani Koswatta’s chemistry lab, students are encouraged to apply their imagination to real-world problems using the scientific method. With this inquiry-based learning approach, first-year biochemistry majors Kimble Gould ’28 and Sabina Martinez Carreon ’28 led a project aimed at increasing the phenolic compounds produced by spinach plants when using various different types of fertilizers. From hypothesis to conclusion, hear how the duo learned to apply experimental design throughout their project.
