Sophomores who demonstrate a passion for self-government and are interested in helping to further the democratic process, this scholarship opportunity is for you! Take advantage of this session to help you put your best foot forward. Applications due Feb. 10, 2026, at 5 p.m.

Whether you’re pre-law, pursuing an education degree because you want to teach government, studying economics to work in a think tank, involved in the political process by helping run campaigns or serving on a city committee, or just generally changing the world, the At-Large Sumners Scholarship is a great opportunity for you.

The Sumners Foundation invites rising juniors (current sophomores) to apply for the At-Large Sumners Scholarship for their junior and senior years at a Texas or Oklahoma College or University. Scholarships are $20,000/year for each of those last two years of undergraduate work ($40,000 total). Additional, exclusive access to professional developing experiences and networks is another valuable benefit of the scholarship.

Students must be U.S. citizens and permanent residents of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Arkansas, Colorado or Kansas and maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA. Financial need is not a factor. Scholarships will be awarded in the summer of 2026 to be initially applied in the fall of 2026.

The scholarship application can be found on the Sumners website:  www.sumnersfoundation.org. The pool of applications will be narrowed down and interviews will be conducted. The application deadline is Feb. 10, 2026, at 5:00 PM Central.
