Sherry Adrian received her PhD from the University of Texas, Austin in 1990, her MEd from the University of Arizona in 1979 and her BA from the University of North Texas in 1977.
In 2012, Dr. Sherry Adrian received the Teaching Award for tenured faculty. The award was created by the Southwestern faculty in 1999 to recognize faculty members who have demonstrated excellence in teaching and comes with a $2,000 prize. Nominations for the award are submitted by students in the spring semester, and recipients are selected by the Honorary Degrees Committee. “In all my years, I have never seen a teacher have more love than Dr. Adrian does for her students,” said Paul Burgess, a student who nominated her for the award.
In 2011, Dr. Sherry Adrian was awarded the Dishman Endowed Professorship for Special Education. The Dishman Professorship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Herbert Dishman in 1972 to fund a professorship in special education.
