In 1992, photographer Mary Jessie Garza teamed up with Southwestern University Professor of Art Mary Visser and Lupita Barrera Bryant to create an exhibit showcasing the work of Latina women across Central Texas. The resulting Rostros y Almas / Faces and Souls exhibit included photographs and personal descriptions of 31 Latina women. This episode of Behind the Artifact shares five of these inspirational stories. Visit Distinctive Collections to explore the entire collection, which has been digitized to raise awareness of the contributions of Latinas at Southwestern University and across Central Texas.
