Southwestern University, located in Georgetown has an immediate opening for a Coordinator of Student Inclusion and Diversity. This position will provide critical support in developing, coordinating, and facilitating programs and resources dedicated to student diversity, inclusion, belonging, and equity (DIBE). By providing awareness trainings and strategizing to advance campus-wide interaction and educational opportunities, the Coordinator will contribute to an inclusive learning environment for all students, student organizations (with an emphasis on cultural and identity-based organizations), and the campus community. The position will provide support and advocacy for students with historically underrepresented identities, including other races such as, including but not limited to Black, Indigenous, Hispanic, Latine; Lesbian, Gay Bisexual, Transgender, Queer + (LGBTQ+), and underrepresented religious groups. This is a full-time, fully benefited, non-exempt position who reports to the Director of Student Inclusion and Diversity.
Primary Duties:
- Oversee, support, and engage student organizations that serve underrepresented student populations, including assisting with event planning and educational /community programming.
- Serve as an advisor to student organizations within the JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion)
- Assist in supervising student facilitators and volunteers.
- Support and mentor historically underrepresented students as
- Work collaboratively with students to promote environments of belonging within the Southwestern
- Meet with, and regularly follow up with, student staff about programs, projects, initiatives, and organizational documents.
- Develop, manage, and evaluate DIBE programming; including but not limited to, workshops, training, speaker series, recognition events, conferences, and the Diversity & Inclusion Certificate Program.
- Collaborate with, and promote, programming and services of existing SU resources (including but not limited to, the Division of EAIE).
- Maintain current research on
- Oversee campus-wide communication and publicity for the Office, including maintaining calendars of events and managing content on the website.
- Model inclusive leadership, and uphold the University’s Core Values and the Student Life Division
- Assist the Director of Student Inclusion & Diversity with office matters as needed (i.e. annual reports, conference proposals, grant proposals, award/recognition ceremonies).
- Assist the Director of Student Inclusion & Diversity with assessing existing procedures annually and provide a strategic plan on how to improve the implementation of DIBE to better serve students.
- Serve on the duty call

Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of experience directly related to the job functions, such as programming with individuals from diverse and traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.
- Willingness to adhere to the University’s core
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of DIBE topics, initiatives, and frameworks,
- Demonstrate leadership skills, including a strong work
- Commitment to promoting, supporting, and accepting cultural differences and diversity within the campus and community.
- Ability to have professional interactions with all internal and external constituencies.
- Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong critical thinking skills, sound decision-making, and
- Ability to work occasional evening and weekend
- Ability to analyze data and communicate findings and impact
- Outstanding ability to relate to traditional college-age
- General knowledge regarding student development theory and
- Have knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the diversity within the campus and community.
