Meet the Professional First-Year Advisors who will work with all first-year students from Sprog through the summer after their first year at SU.
Greetings SU Parents from the Office of Advising and Retention (OAR)!
We are excited to introduce you to our staff. The Professional First-Year Advisors work with all first-year students (and transfer students with 30 or fewer credits) from Sprog through the summer after their first year at SU.

We recognize the important role that parents play in student success and wanted to share with you some upcoming events and resources to aid in advising and registration.
Encourage your students to attend our Exploring Majors Fair on Wednesday, October 2nd from 12:30-1:30 p.m in Bishops’ Lounge. The Exploring Majors Fair is an opportunity for students to “browse” several majors of interest in a short amount of time as an early step in the major selection process. Students will have the opportunity to interact with faculty in a drop-in fashion.
Advising for spring semester registration begins on October 11th! All students are required to meet with their advisor to register for courses. Encourage your students to schedule a meeting with their advisor to discuss spring semester courses, major and career goals, and co-curricular experiences. Students can find important information to help them with course selection on the Advising webpage! Additional information about registration dates can be found at the Registrar’s webpage. If your student can’t attend the Exploring Majors Fair, many departments host information sessions for declared and interested students. The list can be found through the Advising site link posted above.
Check out our Parent’s Guide to Course Registration which answers our most frequently asked questions about the registration process. We have a version in English and Spanish!
SU advisors are here to support and assist your students while guiding them into a successful spring semester!
