Growing up in Austin, Lindsey Walther ’13 wanted to be nearby for college. She chose Southwestern because she believed a small school would give her special learning opportunities. She double majored in communications and Spanish.

During her student days, she says, “Southwestern challenged me to grow constantly and become independent. It also gave me confidence, particularly in my last semester where I really came into my own.”

The New York Arts Program enabled her to spend a semester in New York City where she had a music internship at Saturday Night Live. Each week she dealt with the show’s musical guests and live band. She admits, “the fast-paced nature of SNL prepared me for anything, and hooked me on live events!”

Her first job was at Austin City Limits’ TV show providing artist hospitality. She subsequently spent seven years at C3 Presents and was promoted to Senior Digital Marketing Manager for music festivals including Austin City Limits Fest, Lollapalooza, and many others.

Southwestern enabled Lindsey to explore, be curious, and hone her networking skills. Her stint at SNL helped her build connections within the entertainment industry, but she says her professional skills really developed at C3. Her last job in artistic management was at Ten Atoms, an Austin-based firm that manages Black Pumas, Japanese Breakfast, and several other artists.

Two years ago, Lindsey made what she called a “risky but necessary transition.” She was hired by Condé Nast and was recently promoted to Senior Director of Event Audiences where she works on events for the company’s magazines including Vogue, The New Yorker, GQ, Wired!, Allure, Pitchfork, and others.

Lindsey has finessed her degree from Southwestern into a great career and has made her mark in live events.
