Southwestern University, located in Georgetown has an immediate opening for a Building Maintenance. This position will perform a variety of maintenance tasks as well as duties in construction and repair of assigned campus facilities, to include electrical, lighting, plumbing, carpentry, and other building maintenance related functions. This is a full-time, fully benefited, non-exempt position who reports to the Building Maintenance Supervisor.
Primary Duties:
- Building assignments for preventative maintenance measures.
- Maintain an organized and professional working environment.
- Supports in campus events setup.
- Supports other departments if needed.
- 24Hr Emergency Response Support in inclement weather.
- Responsible for daily monitoring, submitting, and closing work orders in assetessentials.dudesolutions.com system.
- Responsible for summer maintenance on all residential to prepare for the incoming students.
- Dispose of hazardous waste following safety guidance (e.g. light bulbs, arousal cans, etc.)
- Monitor roof for leaks, broken windows.
- Responsible for maintaining Golf Cart and the batteries.
- Maintain proper care for the department’s tools and equipment.
- Responsible for building inspections which may require crawling under the buildings.
- Require to climb ladders and operate lifts.
Position Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in building maintenance.
- A minimum of 3 years; experience in wood work.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in construction environment.
- Experience and knowledge in patching and painting.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in preventive maintenance and building inspection.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to attend work consistently, and work holidays and weekends when necessary.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to work with or without supervision.
- Ability to adhere to the University’s core values.
- Posses knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the diversity within the campus and community.
Physical Requirement:
- Ability to lift and carry 50lbs.
- Bend, stoop, stand, kneel, and reach.
- Move heavy equipment and materials
- Ability to work in confined spaces and heights.
- Willingness to work outdoors and in various weather conditions.
Preferred Position Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in wood working
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in roofing
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in general maintenance
- Knowledge of basic preventative maintenance
- Knowledge of PPE
- Valid Texas driver license, good standing record with DMV, and meets standards for University’s insurance carrier.
