On July 1, The U.S Department of Education declared Southwestern University eligible to become a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), making SU the only top 100 liberal arts university to receive such a designation.

For students enrolled at Hispanic-serving institutions, including SU, who demonstrate financial need, SIT will award a $3,000 scholarship for participation in a semester program and $2,000 for a summer program!

Their scholarships and grants are available to all students accepted into an SIT Study Abroad program irrespective of citizenship, national origin, or home school.  This scholarship is only included to students applying to an SIT Study Abroad program. The SIT experience is transformative. Their programs have helped students establish connections, partnerships, and networks all across the world and have revealed new qualities or interests in themselves that many had not yet identified. SIT has a focus on research and experimental study abroad programs in unique locations like Antartica, Ireland, Africa, South America, India, Indonesia (Bali), Nepal, Tanzania, etc. In Spring this year, we had one of our Psychology students do a SIT program in Jordan!
