Pirate Adventures at Southwestern University offer new first-year andtransfer students a chance to be immersed in a smaller community of peers even before WelcomeWeek begins. With a wide array of trips, Pirate Adventures provide students with opportunitiesfor discovery and connection. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker, an emerging leader, a BBQ connoisseur, a lover of art, or an explorer of the great outdoors, Pirate Adventures are justa taste of the spectacular opportunities Southwestern has to offer.
All Pirate Adventure programs require a registration fee of $150 for overnight trips, andparticipants will arrive on campus on Wednesday, August 16, before Welcome Weekbegins. Trips will take place from August 17–18.

Natural Georgetown Led by: Michael Saenger | August 17–18
Want to explore all of the natural beauty that Georgetown has to offer? With Natural Georgetown, you’ll roam among the dinosaur tracks, wander through Longhorn Caverns, and enjoy the cuisine of Central Texas—breakfast tacos! But don’t worry, you’ll take much-needed breaks from the August heat with fun indoor activities like bowling or the movies.

Outdoor Adventure - SOLD OUT! Led by: Branndon Bargo | August 17–18
In this introduction to Southwestern’s growing Outdoor Adventure (OA) program, you’ll dip your toe in the waters (literally and figuratively) of Georgetown. On this overnight trip, incoming Pirates will traverse high ropes, paddle on Lake Georgetown and down the San Gabriel River, and crawl through Inner Space Caverns. This amphibious adventure will lead you to discover everything from Georgetown’s premiere outdoor attractions to it’s best-kept secrets.

Your first-year of college is all about trying new things—and there’s no shortage of unique, exciting opportunities in Central Texas! Incoming Pirates will adventure through a zip line and ropes course, test their go-kart skills at Circuit of the Americas, escape the heat with a tour of our local caverns, and dine at the finest Texas eateries (did someone say BBQ!?).
Early Move-in
All Pirate Adventure participants will move-in to their assigned residence hall early! Pirate Adventure move-in will take place on Wed August 16th from 1-3PM. You will check in and receive your key at the McCombs Campus Center, Bishops Lounge.
