Jean T. Janssen ’84
Ms. Janssen is Past President and Chair of the Board for the Girl Scouts of the San Jacinto Council, the second largest council in the country serving over 70,000 members in 26 counties in Southeast Texas. She is a past chair of their Human Resources and Philanthropy Committees. She has served on the 100-year Strategic Planning Committee, the Board Development Committee, the Ten-Year Property Strategy Task Force, the Gold Award Task Force, and is a three-time delegate to the GSUSA National Council Session. She is currently a member of the Properties Committee and chairs Service Center Task Force. She has served as the mentor and chaperone to the girl delegates to the National Council Session and chaperones girl travel outside the Council. She is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Houston. She was named one of the 50 most influential women in Houston.
Jean graduated cum laude from Southwestern in 1984 with a bachelor of business administration degree in economics and subsequently obtained her law degree from The University of Texas School of Law in 1987. At Southwestern, she was the first two-term female president of the Student Senate. Jean is also a member of Delta Delta Delta and currently serves on the Executive Board and is Past President of Tri Delta’s Houston Alumnae Chapter. She is President of the chapter’s investment club and is President-Elect of Houston Tri Delta Philanthropies, Inc. She is a Past President of the Southwestern University Alumni Association. She also has held other important volunteer roles for the University, including president of the Houston Chapter of Southwestern Alumni Association, decades chair, class agent, and coordinator of the Delta Delta Delta Fraternity Centennial.
