Ajay Thomas is the Executive Vice President and National Head of Public Finance for FHN Financial, a division of First Horizon Bank, one of the largest regional banks in the Southern United States and a top-35 bank in the U.S.

He obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Southwestern University and went on to receive a Juris Doctor from UT School of Law and a Master’s in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. In 2020, Governor Greg Abbott appointed Ajay Thomas to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) for a term ending in 2025.

Ajay and his wife, Sherry, live in Austin and have five children. Their daughter Kara Thomas ’27N is in her second semester at SU, and the Thomases are members of PLC. Ajay has been on the SU Board of Visitors since 2016.
