H. Brent Austin Brent Austin is the Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Alsamora L.P., a private limited partnership with real estate and diversified equity investments.  From 2008 to 2018 he was an independent director of the general partner of Williams Partners L.P., which operates natural gas pipelines, and chaired its Conflicts Committee.  From 1992 to 2002 he was the Chief Financial Officer of El Paso Corporation and ultimately served as its President and Chief Operating Officer in 2003.  He also held high-level positions at Burlington Resources, Burlington Northern, Columbia Pictures and W.R. Grace & Co.

Mr. Austin has been active in the community.  He is a former board member of Houston’s Alley Theatre and chaired the board of the Houston Children’s Chorus.  He is also a Friend of the Lonesome Cabin Historic Site in Burns, Tennessee.  Mr. Austin was a charter member of Southwestern’s Board of Visitors in 2003 and was Chair from 2014 to 2015.  He has also served as a member of Southwestern’s Investment Committee since 2008.

Brent received his bachelor’s degree in economics, summa cum laude, from the University of Texas at Austin in 1975, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.  He attended the University of Lisbon in Lisbon, Portugal, as an ITT International Fellow in 1975-76.  Brent was awarded a master of business administration degree, majoring in finance, by the University of Texas at Austin in 1978.
