Veronica V. Stidvent
Experienced in government, Ms. Stidvent served as Special Assistant to the Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs in the Office of Management and Budget from 2001–2003 and as Special Assistant to the President of the United States for Policy from 2003–2004. In 2004 Ms. Stidvent was appointed by President George W. Bush as Assistant Secretary for Policy in the United States Department of Labor, a position she held until 2006.
Ms. Stidvent currently is a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council on Cultural Affairs and previously served as a commissioner of the Texas Commission on Human Rights. She serves on the board of directors of Amplify Credit Union. She also is a troop leader for the Girl Scouts of Central Texas. She is a recipient of the El Paso in Austin Trailblazer Award and of the National Association of Hispanic Publications Latina Role Model Award.
Ronnye earned a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in Plan II/American Studies in 1996 from The University of Texas at Austin, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and honored as a Dean’s Distinguished Graduate. Her alma mater subsequently named her as an Outstanding Young Texas Ex. She received her law degree from Yale Law School in 1999 and subsequently clerked for Judge Sidney Fitzwater on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Prior to her election as a trustee, Ronnye was a member of Southwestern’s board of visitors.
