Notable Achievements

Professor of Education Michael Kamen and Associate Professor of Curriculum Instruction and Learning Sciences at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Debra Plowman published “Math is a 4-Letter Word” in the Spring 2025 newsletter of the International Consortium for Research in Science and Mathematics Education. Their quarterly column tells the ongoing story of the fictional character, Ian Quiry, as he studies and struggles to learn how to be an effective elementary school STEM teacher. Michael Kamen received his PhD in Science Education from the University of Texas at Austin in 1991, MS in Education in Supervision and Administration from Bank Street College of Education in 1984, and a BA in Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood Education from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1977.
