Ray Brown has joined Southwestern as Interim Vice President for Strategic Recruitment and Enrollment. In this role, he will oversee the Office of Admission and Financial Aid and guide our enrollment strategy during this period of transition. The University will immediately launch a national search for a permanent Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Brown brings more than four decades of experience in enrollment management. He has led admission and financial aid functions at a wide range of institutions. Most recently, he served as Interim Vice President for Admission and Financial Aid at Pomona College, where he provided strategic leadership in recruitment, financial aid policy, staff development, and process improvement.  He previously served for 16 years at Texas Christian University, seven years at Marquette University, and interim stints at Valparaiso University and the University of Texas at Arlington. Brown’s long career reflects a deep commitment to student access and institutional mission, as well as a consistent record of strengthening enrollment operations.

To support stronger alignment across key areas of the University, the Department of Athletics will now report to Marie Muhvic, Vice President for University Relations. Marie brings extensive athletics-focused experience to this expanded role, including service as Associate Director of Athletics and Director of Development for Athletics and Recreation at Fairfield University, where she led major facility fundraising and strengthened annual support for athletics. She also held athletics development positions at Princeton University and began her career in the University of Tennessee Athletic Department. A former D-1 collegiate student-athlete, Marie brings valuable first-hand insight into the student-athlete experience.

President Laura Skandera Trombley expressed confidence in both leaders, noting that these transitions will help ensure continuity, strengthen our enrollment pipeline, and deepen collaboration across divisions.
