Black History Month: Celebrating the Creativity of Black Culture at Southwestern
Through football, philanthropy, and beyond, Darrell James ’25 has made a positive impact at Southwestern while embracing the University’s “loving community.”
Biology major Darrell James ’25 has fully embraced the strong sense of community at Southwestern. As a member of E.M.P.I.R.E., Darrell helps organize events on campus to celebrate Black creativity and culture, and give back to the local community. Short for Established Men Promoting Intelligence, Respect, and Efficacy, E.M.P.I.R.E. works to break down racial stereotypes and serve as positive role models on campus and in the community. A cornerback on the Pirates football team, Darrell is studying biology and plans to pursue a career in sports medicine after graduation.
