Black History Month: Embracing Black Culture from Nigeria to the United States
Iva Irabor-Ighedosa ’26 hopes to inspire other students by sharing how she navigated the differences between being Black in her native Nigeria and being Black in the United States.
Biology major Iva Irabor-Ighedosa ’26 has seen first-hand the differences between being Black in her native Nigeria and being Black in the United States. After traveling to America to attend Southwestern, Iva has embraced the Black community at SU and hopes to be a role model for fellow students. Active on campus, Iva serves as President of Southwestern’s Global Students Organization, works at the Center for Career & Professional Development, and is a residential assistant in Clark Hall.
