Southwestern University, located in Georgetown has an immediate opening for a Business Systems Analyst. The Business Systems Analyst is responsible in assisting with maintenance, monitoring, optimization, documentation, and support of the different systems in the Business Office. This is a full-time, fully benefited, exempt position who reports to the Associate Vice President for Finance and Accounting.

Primary Duties:

  • Collaborate with Business Office team members, Administrative Information Technology, and end-users in understanding requirements, analyzing solutions, identifying business process improvements and then overseeing implementation of any approved business processes improvements.
  • Lead the analysis, design and execution of changes to existing business and organizational processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Prepare proposed scope-related functional area decision documents related to business process changes for management review and escalation.
  • Oversee project management and facilitate resolution of all functional enhancements, modifications, and business process changes.
  • Collaborate with area subject matter experts to ensure all functional area’s business processes are documented and kept up-to-date, including process flow diagrams.
  • Responsible for review, testing, and process validation of all system updates and releases to ensure there are no negative impacts of new products/enhancements to business processes.
  • Collaborate with area subject matter experts to prepare revised documentation and training on all new system enhancements to the appropriate end users.
  • Maintain ongoing communication and collaboration with Business Office team members to assure business processes are properly defined, documented, and function effectively.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate proposed products and services offerings, operational improvements, and emerging technologies for impact and leverage across the business area.
  • Leads other special projects, initiatives and other duties as assigned.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, computer science, business or related field from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum five years of professional-level experience related to business processes and ERP systems supporting multiple end-users.
  • Experience with financial accounting business processes and systems supporting three or more of the following: Student Accounts, Accounts Payable, Projects and Grant Accounting, Payroll, General Ledger, Chart of Accounts, Procurement, and Endowment Accounting.
  • Experience in gathering process information, analyzing detailed information, designing solutions, execution of user acceptance testing, planning implementations and deploying solutions related to business processes.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional business teams and handle multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving, critical thinking skills, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced skills in project management skills to include collaborate and buy-in with all end-users through the review, decision making and implementation process.
  • Ability to effectively handle a diverse range of duties while balancing independent initiative, independent thinking, and excellent customer service, and a strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrate advanced excel and word processing software skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a collaborative and dynamic team environment
  • Possess excellent interaction and communication skills in a clear and straightforward manner (verbal and written) with all levels of management and company personnel.
  • Ability to be flexible, adjust to fluctuating priorities, perform well in stressful situations, and produce a reliable work product.
  • Possess the applications of tact, diplomacy, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the diversity within the campus and community.
  • Ability to work in a typical office environment with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to attend work consistently and maintain a regular work schedule.

Preferred Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business or Master’s degree from an accredited university.
  • More than five years of professional-level accounting experience, with business processes and ERP systems supporting multiple end-users.
  • Experience using Ellucian Colleague/Datatel, Concur, and Transact.
  • Project management experience implementing technology and software improvements to business processes in a university setting.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with private higher education accounting and financial business processes.
