Megan first started her employment at Southwestern in May 2005 as the assistant director of alumni and parent relations, with responsibilities including the building of a local chapter model and the development of alumni and parent programming. She left Southwestern in 2008 only to return in 2012 in her current role.

Since serving as an AVP, Megan has initiated and collaborated on a number of programs and projects, including the Alumni Network Mentoring Program, the PirateConnect networking platform, Legacy Link, the 18 under 40 program, and virtual programming. She also oversaw the production of major University events including Homecoming, President Trombley’s inauguration, the Thrive campaign launch, Commencement, President’s Appreciation Celebrations, and the Roy and Margaret Shilling Lecture series. In 2020, the Center for Career & Professional Development transitioned to the Office of University Relations, under Megan’s leadership, to strengthen the student-alumni connections and build a lifelong professional network. She also worked with colleagues to bring the concept of Life Design as a cohesive approach to student-staff interactions. In addition to her annual responsibilities, during the 2019-2020 year, Megan served as the liaison to the Board of Trustees during Southwestern University’s 16th Presidential Search.

In 2021, Megan was awarded the Joe S. Mundy Award for exemplary service to the University. “Megan has been a gift to Southwestern for the last 11 years, and we are grateful for her service to the University and particularly to the alumni and parent community. We wish her well in her next chapter and thank her for the impact she has made in so many of our lives,” says Craig McKinney ’91, president of the Southwestern University Alumni Association.

Southwestern University will announce plans for a search in the new year.
