Assistant Professor of Biology Jennie DeMarco, Kayleigh Klinksiek ’26, and Nash Kendall ’26 worked together on a SCOPE project quantifying the impact of Tamaulipan thornscrub restoration as a nature-based solution to climate change mitigation. Specifically, to quantify and contrast the quantity of soil carbon held within the restored thornscrub areas with that found in sites that have not undergone restoration. This comparison aims to determine whether there has been an enhancement in soil carbon content due to the restoration efforts.
