George J. Mitchell Scholarship
Named to honor former US Senator George Mitchell’s pivotal contribution to the Northern Ireland peace process, the scholarship is designed to introduce and connect generations of future American leaders to the island of Ireland, while recognizing and fostering intellectual achievement, leadership, and a commitment to community and public service. Applicants are judged on scholarship, leadership, and a sustained commitment to community and public service. The Mitchell Scholarship provides tuition, accommodation, and a stipend for living expenses and travel.

Other specific criteria: Must be between the ages of 18 and 30, be a U.S. citizen and have a bachelor’s degree before beginning study as a Mitchell Scholar. Must have a strong academic record that convinces the selection committee that the applicant is prepared to undertake the proposed course of study.
