Southwestern is piloting a new opportunity for students to spend an evening in Austin, with complimentary transportation to and from South Lamar.
The van will drop students off at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema South Lamar, where you can catch a movie, grab dinner, or explore the nearby shops and restaurants.
Trip details
- Departure: 6:00 p.m. from the McCombs Campus Center
- Drop-off and pickup: Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, 1120 S. Lamar Blvd., Austin
- Return: The van leaves Alamo Drafthouse at 10:00 p.m. and returns to campus
- Cost: Transportation is free. Activities are at your own expense.
Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Before you go
You must complete the liability form before joining a trip. Submit it by noon on the day of your trip. You only need to complete the form once, even if you join us for future trips.
Bring your SU ID, a government-issued photo ID, and a charged phone.

Stay close to the drop-off point for a movie or a meal at Lamar Union Plaza, or make plans to visit another Austin destination.

Some destinations require a rideshare, so plan how you’ll get back to Alamo Drafthouse before the van leaves at 10:00 p.m.
If you miss the return trip, you are responsible for arranging your own transportation back to campus. We recommend traveling with friends, keeping your phone charged, and setting a reminder to return to the pickup point.
