Certificate Programs

Southwestern’s specialized certificate programs provide students with targeted knowledge, practical skills, and real world experience to support their professional success after graduation.

Certificate programs help students acquire specific knowledge and abilities that will make them more competitive applicants for jobs or advanced degrees. The programs comprise selected courses and at least one High-Impact Experience and are targeted and practical by design, focusing on applied skills.

Certificates are awarded upon completion rather than at graduation. They require at least 18 credits and there is no upper limit to the number of certificates students may pursue. Double counting of courses is permitted for all certificate requirements. Certificate requirements must be fulfilled with Southwestern courses only; transfer credit, AP/IB scores, or other non-residence SU credit are not accepted.
