Undergraduate Research
Off-Campus Research Opportunities
SU students network with scholars & undergraduates from across the nation to gain research experience in the archives, at the bench, & in the field.
Many Southwestern students gain crucial hands-on experience at research facilities across the globe during the long summer and winter breaks. From shadowing a cardiothoracic surgeon at the University of Texas Health Science Center of Houston and analyzing how the genetics of sexual difference affects adipose tissue at the University of Virginia to observing wildlife conservation in Africa and editing 19th-century musical compositions in Austria, our students engage in groundbreaking studies that broaden their perspectives and enhance their technical skills. Faculty mentors, Southwestern’s award-winning Center for Career & Professional Development, and the Center for Integrative Learning are all here to support Southwestern students in discovering and applying for off-campus research opportunities.
