9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Community Art Project This graffiti-style project invites all to contribute, making it a colorful symbol of our unity and creativity. Whether you’re an artist or just want to express yourself, add your unique touch to this collective masterpiece. Academic Mall
9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (Or until supplies last) Happy Little Paintings Join us to create your own mini-masterpiece in celebration of Bob Ross’s birthday. Whether you’re a seasoned painter or just starting out, enjoy a relaxing break painting some happy little trees. All art supplies will be provided. Smith Library Center -  academic commons 
11:00 a.m - 12:30 p.m. Courageous Conversations

Facilitated discussion that foster a space where students, faculty, and staff can engage in meaningful conversations about important and often challenging topics. We believe that “conversation is the currency of change,” and through this dialogue, we aim to create lasting impact on ourselves and our community. This session’s theme, “Creating Trust Within Our Liberal Arts Community”, will explore the foundations of trust and how it shapes our relationships and environment.

Enjoy a vibrant lunch experience featuring street-themed cuisine, where you can connect with both new and familiar faces. The Commons will host affinity group tables, making it easy to find and share a meal with others who share your interests. Whether you’re passionate about running, a fan of video games, or balancing life as a mom, there’s a spot for you to enjoy lunch and great conversation with like-minded community members.

1:30 - 2:00 p.m. Costume Contest Break out your best costume and strut the runway for a costume contest! We’ll let the SU community pick their favorites, and prizes will be awarded to the winners. Robertson Center
2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Pirates for Pirates Field Day

Participate or cheer on your fellow SU community in an afternoon full of fun games that will transport you back to your days as an elementary student. It’s a chance to let loose, get active, alleviate stress, show some community pride, and enjoy some yummy treats.

The Paideia Connections Lecture Series features presentations by two distinguished SU faculty members from different fields. The event is designed to encourage stimulating discussions following the presentations. 

  • Dr. Melissa K Byrnes, Professor of History, Title: Making Space: Neighbors, Officials, and North African Migrants in the Suburbs of Paris and Lyon
  • Dr. Erin E. Crockett, Professor of Psychology, Title: “I’ve got you under my skin”: The physiological consequences of our close relationships
