Summer Research Opportunities for Sociology and Anthropology Students

Work with faculty members in the department.  Over the past five years, there have been numerous faculty-student summer collaborative research groups that have conducted, presented, and published studies together.  Ask a faculty member in the department about these summer opportunities (typically, students receive summer campus housing, a stipend, and funds to travel to a professional meeting to present their research). 

Research Training National Science Foundation – Research Experience for Undergraduates REU). In the past, several of our sociology majors have completed the Demography REU at UT and several anthropology majors have completed the Cultural Anthropology program at UNT. Texas A & M currently offers a sociology REU experience.

Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), Ann Arbor, MI offers a summer program in quantitative methods for social research.

The Health Management and Policy Summer Enrichment Program at University of Michigan offers an internship program for students interested in eliminating health disparities.

American Sociological Association Undergraduate Honors Program offers an introduction to graduate school and careers in sociology as part of the annual conference each August.
