December Graduation
Southwestern University is excited to host a December Graduation Ceremony for proposed December 2025 graduates. The December Graduation Ceremony allows graduates, families, guests, and faculty to come together to celebrate your amazing accomplishments. All December graduates are also invited to attend the May Commencement Convocation, where graduates will return to SU, join others from the Class of 2026, and receive your diploma! Commencement is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. on the Roy H. Cullen Academic Mall.
Please note, graduates recognized in December will receive their diplomas at the May Commencement Convocation (pending successful completion of degree requirements). Diplomas for those unable to attend will be mailed by the end of May.

Tickets are not required to attend the December Graduation Ceremony. Parents, families, and guests are not required to RSVP as there will be plenty of space available in the Lois Perkins Chapel.
December graduates should plan to attend a walkthrough of the ceremony on Friday, December 12 at 10:00 a.m. in the Lois Perkins Chapel. If you are arriving from out of town and are unable to be on campus by that time, please email Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Julie Cowley at cowleyj@southwestern.edu.
Regalia, Announcements, and Class Rings
Regalia
All December graduates must wear the University-approved regalia (cap, tassel, and gown) to participate in the Graduation Ceremony. Students are required to rent academic regalia through the SU Bookstore. No borrowed regalia or substitutions are allowed.
All pre-ordered regalia orders will be shipped to the SU Bookstore and can be picked up beginning on Wednesday, December 8. You must return the rental gown to the SU Bookstore immediately following the Graduation Ceremony. The SU Bookstore will be open until 6:30 p.m. for students to return their rental gown following the Graduation Ceremony. Caps, tassels, and stoles are yours to keep.

Class Rings
Commemorate your Southwestern Experience with a Southwestern Ring, exclusively for students who have completed 75 credits or more. Class rings can be ordered by contacting Balfour at 866.225.3687 or San Jose Jewelers at 254.666.5455.
The Ring Ceremony will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026.
