Grants
Grants are gift aid based on demonstrated need and are funded from federal, state and/or institutional sources.
Types of grants include the following:
Federal Pell Grant
Awarded to exceptionally needy students, as determined by the results of the FAFSA, funded by the Federal Government.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
Awarded to exceptionally needy students, as a supplement to the Federal Pell Grant. Actual award depends on level of funding that Southwestern University receives from the Federal Government.
Texas Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG)
Awarded to Texas residents demonstrating need. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 GPA and pass at least 24 hours each year.
Southwestern Grant (Need-Based)
Awarded by Southwestern University to students demonstrating need. Award amounts vary. Funding made possible by generous gifts from alumni and friends of Southwestern University.
