Philosophy Club
A student organization that promotes the discussion of current philosophical topics and how we can make a change in society starting at an everyday level.
Contact
The Southwestern University Philosophy Club is a student-led organization that allows for a space in which students and members of the community can interact and discuss current topics. It is an informal setting in order to encourage passionate discussions of what matters to each individual. The philosophy club is a safe space in which everyone is welcome, even non-philosophy majors and minors. The purpose of this club is to encourage everyone to have a voice about philosophical matters that each person feels strongly about and allow for other opinions to be heard and defended. The only requirement to be a member of this organization is to have an open mind and be willing to kindly discuss sometimes difficult topics.
A Typical Meeting
A member of the club will choose either a topic or a question that will be written on the white board and we discuss what it means and why it matters in today’s society. We often talk about controversial topics and try to find solutions for current problems that we can implement into our everyday lives.
The club meets every Friday at 7 p.m. in the Fondren–Jones Science Center, room 360. (If this room is unavailable when you arrive, please text 940.536.7977 for a new location.)
