October 8, 2024 at 7:30 pmIN THE ALMA THOMAS THEATER
Described as “…not anything but everything: Classical, Folk, Bluegrass, Americana and a sound yet to be termed seamlessly merged into a perfect one” (David Srebnik, SiriusXM Classical Producer), Invoke strives to successfully dodge even the most valiant attempts at genre classification. The multi-instrumental quartet encompasses traditions from across America, including bluegrass, Appalachian fiddle tunes, jazz, and minimalism. Fueled by their passion for storytelling, Invoke weaves all of these styles together to form a unique contemporary repertoire, featuring original works composed by and for the group. This passion also inspired Invoke’s ongoing commissioning initiative American Postcards, in which they draw on composers from all backgrounds to help tell the stories of America, piece by piece.

Diego Caetano
February 18, 2025 at 7:30 pmIN THE ALMA THOMAS THEATERInternationally acclaimed pianist Diego Caetano presents a captivating program exploring the rich colors and expressive depth of the piano repertoire. The evening opens with Debussy’s Images, Book II, a set of three impressionistic pieces evoking delicate bell tones, moonlit serenity, and shimmering golden fish. Chaminade’s Arabesque, Op. 61 follows a charming and lyrical work showcasing French elegance. Poulenc’s Les Soirées de Nazelles offers a delightful sequence of character variations, blending wit, nostalgia, and virtuosity in a musical portrait of Parisian soirées. The program’s second half features Beethoven’s dramatic Sonata, Op. 13 “Pathetique”, a work of profound contrasts, from its stormy Grave to the tender lyricism of the Adagio cantabile. Gnattali’s Negaceando infuses the recital with Brazilian rhythmic vitality and harmonic flair. The evening culminates in Ravel’s La Valse, a dazzling and volatile reimagining of the Viennese waltz, building from graceful elegance to a breathtaking, almost chaotic conclusion. Diego Caetano’s artistry promises a night of passion, refinement, and breathtaking virtuosity.
