Southwestern University utilizes a logo system that provides the flexibility to use the appropriate logo mark for the situation and medium. This system consists of the Southwestern University Crest, which embodies symbolic references to our storied history. The crest is then simplified in a series of iterations down to the Southwestern University Icon.
When to Use Which Logo
The Icon is Southwestern’s primary logo and is to be used in all electronic medium and, whenever possible, across campus wide materials.
In general, the Crest is to be used in an academic setting and in more formal introductory recruitment communications. The detail nature of the mark itself limits its possible applications, particularly in digital media or on promotional items.
Other iterations within this identity system are to be used on a limited basis and are available for download by contacting sucommunications@southwestern.edu.
Flexibility is our goal, so use your own good judgement regarding which mark best fits the size and situation.
The Official Seal of SU
The official seal of Southwestern University is just that, a seal. It is not to be used as a logo, but rather as a symbol of authenticity on official documents such as diplomas and/or material related to academic or presidential ceremony.
