Your Student Has a Pirate Plan. Here’s What That Means.
Learn how Southwestern’s four-year approach helps students turn their college experiences into a plan for what comes next.
Your student has something students at other universities don’t: The Pirate Plan.
Other universities may offer many of the same resources individually. At Southwestern, we bring them together into a personalized four-year plan, with a dedicated Success Coach, working alongside faculty advisors, mentors, Student Life staff, and others across campus, to help your student connect their college experience to what comes after graduation.
From the first year through senior year, students build the experiences, skills and relationships that prepare them for post-graduate success—whether that means a career, graduate school or another path.
A Dedicated Success Coach
Every Southwestern student has a Success Coach assigned to their class year, and your student has already heard from theirs.
Success Coaches help students think through goals, find opportunities and make the most of their time at Southwestern. That could mean exploring a career, finding an internship, preparing for graduate school or figuring out what they want to pursue.
As a parent, you can encourage your student to make the most of this resource. Try asking: “Have you talked to your Success Coach?” or “How is your Pirate Plan coming along?”
Stay Connected
You’ll hear from the Pirate Plan Council throughout the year with updates and ways you can encourage your student to take advantage of the Pirate Plan.
A Southwestern education is an investment in your student’s future. The Pirate Plan is one of the ways we help make that investment count.
