The annual SOAR (Skills, Opportunities, Action, and Results) Summit, hosted by Southwestern’s Center for Career & Professional Development, provides sophomores with a comprehensive, cohort-based experience to launch their career development, with a particular focus on pursuing internships and building valuable professional networks, as well as other crucial career-management skills such as effective self-marketing through resumes and interviews.

Keynote speaker and MC Chad Littlefield, cofounder of We and Me Inc., guided students through reflection and group development activities, while a host of alumni and other employer professionals provided industry insights and advice, including reps from Ascension Seton, CISCO, Dell Technologies, the Department of Family & Protective Services, the Department of State Health Services, Expedia, First Texas Bank, Frontier Bank, Gainwell Technologies, Indeed.com, Jumpseat Research, LCRA, Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management, NVIDIA, St. David’s Healthcare, Texas Office of the Attorney General, UFCU, Visa and more.
