As another year draws to a close, we reflect on the enduring solidarity of our Southwestern community. We may hail from different parts of the globe and speak different languages. We may come from dissimilar backgrounds and cherish divergent values or beliefs. We may cultivate distinct interests and pursue varied intellectual passions. We may observe different holidays in diverse ways. But as we celebrate our past accomplishments, reflect on the present moment, and embrace the promises of a new year, we recognize that our diversity only broadens our understanding of our shared humanity. During this holiday season, we are grateful that we remain a family, not despite our differences but because of them.
