Abi Walker ’25 put the skills learned through her kinesiology major to the test this summer during an internship at Grand Living, where she taught fitness classes to the community’s senior citizens. Abi promoted wellness and movement of both the body and the brain to her students in classes such as water aerobics, boxing for fitness, smart fit, and memory care. During her internship, she gained real-world experience with lesson planning and helped organize the “Grand Living Summer Olympics,” an event that allowed residents to participate in sports like shooting, archery, and shuffleboard. Through the experience, Abi discovered her passion for working with seniors while embodying the Kinesiology Department’s motto that “movement is medicine.”
