Guest Speaker Dr. Richard Reddick Discusses Issues of Equity in Education
Associate Dean of Equity and Community Outreach the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Education gave insight into the role of archival deep dives to uncover the racist contexts that create educational environments.
Dr. Richard Reddick, associate dean of equity and community outreach for University of Texas at Austin’s College of Education, visited Assistant Professor of Communication Studies Lamiyah (LB) Bahrainwala’s Race, Ethnicity and Communication classes on September 28 to discuss issues of equity in education. Dr. Reddick chaired the investigation into the history of the Eyes of Texas song and talked about the role of archival deep dives to uncover the racist contexts that create educational environments. During Q&A, Southwestern students shared the impact of the university’s own SU Racial History Project.
