President Laura Skandera Trombley, a preeminent Mark Twain scholar, and Dr. Ann Ryan of LeMoyne University cowrote an opinion piece titled “Mark Twain and Critical Race Theory” which was featured in Inside Higher Education.
In the article, Trombley and Ryan use Twain’s writing as an example to “demonstrate how thoroughly American it is to wrestle with ‘critical race theory,’ a phrase that Twain would have found as unwieldy as it is imprecise.”
