Southwestern University is one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduates according to The Princeton Review®. The education-services company has published its annual college rankings, and in The Best 387 Colleges, 2022: In-Depth Profiles, Ratings, and Lists to Help Find the Right College for You, Southwestern University makes its mark in the following categories:

• #1 in Texas and #12 in the U.S. for Best Private Schools for Making an Impact 
• #2 in Texas and #19 in the U.S. for Best Private Schools for Internships

SU is further acknowledged in The Princeton Review’s unranked lists of Best Value Colleges, Best Value Colleges, Great Career Services, and Green Colleges.

Only about 14% of America’s 2,700 four-year colleges are profiled in the book, which is one of The Princeton Review’s most popular publications. The company chooses schools based on data it annually collects from hundreds of administrators about their institutions’ academic offerings. The editors also consider data they gather from surveys of students at the colleges who rate and report on various aspects of their campus and community experiences. For example, students at SU praise the institution’s culture of “acceptance and stimulating engagement” and their peers’ “involvement in social justice and activism,” noting that the campus is a “unique scholarly bubble.”

The Princeton Review does not rank the colleges in the book from 1 to 387. For the 30th anniversary edition of the book, the company curated “Great Lists” of colleges in 26 categories. The lists name the colleges that have had a distinctive history of appearances on the ranking lists in past editions of the book over the years. Some of the “Great List” categories include “Great Financial Aid,” “Great Career Services,” and “Great-Run Colleges.” Each list names 16–29 colleges in alphabetical (not ranked) order.
