Hello! My name is Sarah Johnson and I am a rising senior Communication Studies major and Anthropology minor from Tomball, Texas. At Southwestern, I serve as a Community Engaged Learning Associate (CELSA) for the Office of Community Engaged Learning (OCEL) and am president of Omicron Delta Kappa, a leadership honor society. I am also a member of Alpha Chi, Lambda Pi Eta, and the University Committee on Discipline. In my CELSA role, I have had the opportunity to work with The Georgetown Project, a local nonprofit that is dedicated to children and youth development within the community. Last semester, I implemented a fundraising campaign for Georgetown ISD high school students who are homeless, at-risk or living in transition. Currently, I am designing a child and youth master plan for the city of Georgetown in conjunction with Georgetown’s Collaborative for Children and Youth. My experiences in leadership positions at Southwestern have been extremely rewarding, fulfilling, and positive. Most importantly, Southwestern has given me the tools to embrace community engagement and enabled me to create meaningful change in Georgetown and, for that, I am eternally grateful.
