My artwork depicts a surreal calmness that can be found in everything from bathrooms to
beaches. The images are organized into pairs or triptychs, for I found that the photos work
together like music notes that form a symphony when put together. Each photo is still a strong
image; however, when put in relation to the other photos the serenity I want to capture really
comes through. The relationship between the photos is quite obvious visually; the forms, composition and colors work in harmony to pull sets of the photos together. But when the viewer takes a step back from the photos and realizes they are looking at everyday objects next to a landscape yet they still work together, the viewer must analyze why that is. I want it to be similar to the feeling you get when waking up from a dream. While you are dreaming everything seems to make perfect sense. It is only after waking up that you realize the oddities of the experience.
