Southwestern University was recently named to The Princeton Review’s 2018 list of “Best Schools for Making an Impact.”
This is the second year for this new category, which is included in The Princeton Review’s Colleges That Pay You Back: The 200 Schools That Give You the Best Bang for Your Tuition Buck – 2018 Edition. Southwestern is the only school in Texas included on the list, moving from no. 11 last year to take the no. 3 spot this year.
The impact rankings are based on student ratings and responses regarding available community service opportunities at their school, student government, sustainability efforts, and on-campus student engagement. In addition, The Princeton Review also takes into account the percentage of alumni from each school that report having high job meaning.
Southwestern University Dean of Enrollment Services, Christine Bowman, says, “While I do not believe rankings should drive one’s college search process, this recognition lifts up Southwestern’s philosophy of encouraging students to explore, engage, and become involved in meaningful activities.” SU students are constantly challenged to think differently, view things from multiple perspectives and contribute meaningful solutions both in and outside the classrooms.
Bowman adds, “The impact list also looks beyond a students’ on-campus experience and values alumni job satisfaction. With our strong post-graduate placement across all disciplines and industries, it is confirming that our life-long learning equates to job satisfaction.” Southwestern students develop the intellectual habits required to succeed in today’s ever-changing world. They graduate with the tools to innovate, make positive contributions, and succeed in their careers and in life.
