Homecoming, Nov. 3-5, was a weekend of celebration of the Southwestern Experience. This year, three class years presented checks to President Edward Burger for their efforts to endow their Class Scholarships.

CLASS OF 1967

Fifty years ago, the Class of 1967 graduated from Southwestern and embarked on their life journeys. In honor of their Golden Anniversary, the Class of 1967 established “The Class of 1967 Endowed Scholarship.” This scholarship fund honors the legacy of the great alumni of 1967 and will support future Pirates in perpetuity. During Homecoming Weekend, class representatives presented a check for $38,480.

CLASS OF 1997

The Class of 1997 celebrated their 20-year reunion by presenting a gift to Southwestern University establishing “The Class of 1997 Endowed Scholarship.” Members of the class are committed to supporting Southwestern students with financial need. In celebration of this milestone, the 1997 Reunion Planning Committee presented a check for $37,370.

CLASS OF 2019

In October of 2015, the students at Southwestern created Class Scholarship funds for each class on campus. The goal is for each class to reach a minimum endowment level of $25,000 so that their scholarship could be given in perpetuity. The Class of 2017 was the first class to reach this goal when they graduated in May. The Class of 2019, along with their families, have already met and surpassed this goal. During the Homecoming weekend, they presented a check for $28,315 to President Burger for the Class of 2019 Endowed Scholarship.

Each class’s reunion gift includes every gift made during 2017, if you celebrated a reunion this year you can still make a gift in honor of your class before the end of the year. Thank you for making a Southwestern education possible for future Pirates!
