  • Alpha Delta Pi

    Alpha Delta Pi (ADPi) was founded on May 15, 1851, at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, and holds the honor of being the first secret society for women in the world. The Zeta Chapter was established at Southwestern University on February 9th, 1907. As the third oldest active chapter of Alpha Delta Pi, this chapter has some of the richest, longest-standing history on Southwestern’s campus and in the world. Members uphold ADPi’s cherished tradition of sisterhood, academic excellence, ethical values, and social responsibility.

  • Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®

    Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® (AKA) is the fi rst intercollegiate historically African American sorority. The sorority was founded on January 15, 1908, by sixteen students at the historically black Howard University in Washington, D.C. The Upsilon Alpha chapter was chartered at Southwestern on November 15, 2015. The purpose of AKA is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, promote unity and friendship, alleviate problems concerning girls and women, maintain a progressive interest in college life, and provide service to all mankind.

  • Alpha Xi Delta

    Alpha Xi Delta (AXiD) was founded in 1893 at Lombard College in Galesburg, Illinois. The Theta Lambda chapter was chartered at Southwestern on April 25, 1992. Alpha Xi Delta is a progressive organization dedicated to the personal growth of women. Through membership in Alpha Xi Delta, members are inspired to realize their potential through the ideals their founders instilled: sisterhood, leadership, knowledge, and service to our communities. 

    Alpha Xi Delta has quite literally changed the course of my life. Alpha Xi has given me friendships that will last forever, shown me the potential I have in leadership positions, and constantly encouraged me to be a better version of myself today than I was yesterday. I cannot imagine my college experience or my life without AXiD because this experience and these people truly are for life. I have met the most genuine girls and am surrounded by women who uplift and encourage me at every fork in the road. My sisters are the most supportive group of women I have been lucky enough to meet, and I can not thank them enough for believing in me when I had doubts.   • Delta Delta Delta

    Delta Delta Delta (Tri Delta) was founded on November 27, 1888, at Boston University. The Theta Epsilon chapter was chartered at Southwestern in 1911. Tri Delta aims to establish a perpetual bond of friendship among its members, to develop a stronger and more womanly character, to broaden the moral and intellectual life, and to assist its members in every possible way.  

    “Joining Greek Life at Southwestern University has been one of the most impactful experiences of my college career. Being a part of the sisterhood of Delta Delta Delta has provided me with a sense of belonging, leadership opportunities for personal growth, and a large network of women that will last a lifetime. It has also given me a strong foundation of friendship and connection to the community at SU. Service opportunities are a key element that you get to experience as a member, and words can’t describe the feeling you have when you are making a difference in the world through your organization.   • Kappa Delta Chi

    Kappa Delta Chi (KDChi) was founded in 1987 at Texas Tech University. The Southwestern charter was established April 17, 2010. Kappa Delta Chi is a Latina-founded national sorority that aims to achieve professional development and academic excellence. The organization is dedicated to community service to their local university communities, emphasizing the Hispanic/Latino population. 

    “Initially, I never saw myself being part of a sorority, but it’s a decision I will never regret. Being part of a Greek-letter organization built a foundation for me at SU and has been an incredibly helpful guide for my academic career and personal development.   • Zeta Tau Alpha

    Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA) was founded on October 15, 1898, at the State Female Normal School in Farmville, Virginia. The Lambda Chapter at Southwestern was installed on May 31, 1906. ZTA aims to make a difference in the lives of its members by developing the potential of each individual through innovative programming, which emphasizes leadership development, service to others, academic achievement, and continued personal growth for women, with a commitment to friendship and the future based on the sisterhood, values, and traditions of the past. 

    “Joining a sorority was one of the best decisions I made during my collegiate career. I had the opportunity to attend numerous leadership conferences, networking events, and social occasions due to my Greek Life connections. My confi dence and passion for my interests grew exponentially, in large part due to my advisors and friends in Zeta Tau Alpha.   • Kappa Alpha Order

    Kappa Alpha Order (KA) was founded on December 21, 1865, at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. The Xi Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Order was founded at Southwestern University on November 28, 1883. It marked the fi rst chapter west of the Mississippi River. Kappa Alpha is an order based on chivalry and Christian values and strives to create a lifetime experience that centers on reverence to God, duty, honor, character, and gentlemanly conduct.

  • Kappa Sigma

    Kappa Sigma (Kappa Sig) was founded at the University of Virginia in 1869. The Iota Chapter was founded at Southwestern on October 15, 1886. Kappa Sigma is one of North America’s oldest and largest fraternities, dedicated to the total development of today’s college men by fostering a values-based fraternity environment on our principles of fellowship, leadership, scholarship, and service.

  • Phi Delta Theta

    Phi Delta Theta (Phi Delt) was founded at Miami University on December 26, 1848. The Texas Gamma chapter was founded at Southwestern in 1886. Phi Delt strives to develop young men who are prepared to enter the real world with a confidence and demeanor that will benefit them throughout their life. Phi Delt teaches men to be confident speakers, organized, and leaders within their communities.

  • Pi Kappa Alpha

    Pi Kappa Alpha (PIKE) was founded at the University of Virginia, on March 1, 1868. The Alpha Omicron chapter was established at Southwestern, on November 2, 1910, making it the 1st of 12 Texas Pi Kappa Alpha Chapters. The members, known as “Pikes,” are dedicated to developing men of integrity, intellect, ambition to succeed, and high moral character. The Alpha Omicron members have traditional values, are culturally diverse, and are united by a shared goal – to contribute to their “brotherhood” and themselves as Scholars, Leaders, Athletes, and Gentlemen.  

    “When coming to Southwestern, I had not considered joining a fraternity. However, I was warmly welcomed by and came to know the Pike brothers. I wanted to join this successful and ambitious group. Our Alpha Omicron leadership positions like leading rush, supporting The Boys & Girls Club, hosting social events, and Parents Day are experiences I’ll use after graduation. As a chapter offi cer and student-athlete, I am supported and encouraged by my undergraduate brothers, and connected to and network with, Pike alumni throughout Texas.” — Logan LeBlanc ’25

    Leadership Development

    Greek Life offers many opportunities for leadership development, empowering members to become confident and influential leaders on campus and beyond. Fraternity and sorority alumni often become members of the Board of Trustees, leveraging the leadership, networking, and organizational skills honed through their experiences. Currently, 76 percent of alumni who serve on Southwestern’s Board of Trustees are members of Greek organizations, 74 percent of alumni who serve on Southwestern’s Board of Visitors are members of Greek organizations, and 67 percent of the University’s Alumni Council consists of members from Greek organizations. Whether you are serving as an officer within your organization, leading committees, or organizing events, you will have the chance to build your leadership skills in a supportive and collaborative environment. These experiences will shape your character and will equip you with invaluable skills that will set you apart in future endeavors.
