Membership

Criteria for Membership

Student Foundation maintains a membership of up to 40 students. The membership selection committee reviews membership applications, conduct interviews and vote to elect new members. The Membership Drive occurs every fall and in the spring as needed. Any Southwestern student may apply to be in Student Foundation; however, the following criteria must be met in order to be considered for applicants and continuing membership:

Applicants must be first-year, sophomore, junior or senior standing and enrolled for the current academic semester.

Applicants must have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average to be considered.

Applicants must be in good standing with Southwestern University - Office of Student Life will confirm this with their records. 

Any member who withdraws from the university must reapply for membership upon readmission to Southwestern. 

Applicants must have a genuine interest and commitment to the welfare of the University, leadership potential, effectiveness in meeting people, maturity, responsibility and time to actively participate in the organization’s activities.

Membership Drive

The membership drive occurs every fall and in the spring as needed. Applications are made available in September and January. Each candidate must supply the following to be considered for membership:

  • Submit a completed application online, which includes a one-page resume, a one-page personal statement, and provide one. references.
  • Schedule an interview time (15 minutes each with a five-member Interviewing Committee of current Student Foundation members and adviser).
  • The Membership Chair facilitates the interview process.
