McCombs Center

Charline Hamblin McCombs Residental Center is an upper-division coed hall located on the west side of campus. Dedicated in 2001, it is named for alumna Charline Hamblin McCombs, who, along with her spouse, Red McCombs, have been longtime supporters of student scholarships and building initiatives at Southwestern.

McCombs is suite-style housing where there are two bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, and a shared common living area. In most McCombs units, there are 2 residents, one per bedroom. About a quarter of McCombs units are set up for 4 person occupancy (2 people per bedroom at a reduced rate), to allow more sophomores to live in McCombs. The university provides each resident in the McCombs Residential Center with:
  • An extra long twin bed (85”x38”)
  • A desk (38”x24”)
  • A desk chair (22”x20”)
  • A dresser (30”x24”)
  • A side table (shared by roommates) (24”x24”)
  • A couch (shared by roommates) (82”x36”)
  • A coffee table (shared by roommates) (48”x20”)
  • An overstuffed chair (shared by roommates) (36”x36”)
  • Each apartment comes fully furnished and includes a kitchenette with a microfridge and a sink.
