Professional Development

To support faculty/staff advisors in implementing proactive advising with sophomores, juniors, and seniors, we will provide a robust program of professional development opportunities related specifically to proactive advising skill-building

Students completing their first year with a professional advisor will be well-grounded in effective advising practices and have a better understanding of how to integrate co-curricular and curricular experiences. As a result, our faculty/staff advising will transition to one of advisor-mentor. To facilitate this re-envisioned advisor relationship, we will institute development opportunities to equip advisors with tools, resources, and practice at developing these deeper mentoring relationships. These sessions, led by the Director of Advising and Retention’s team, will occur yearly and at Fall Faculty Conference. Targeted development with professional advisors will be provided in area meetings.
