General
Building Fund
An attractive, highly functional and accommodating living/learning environment at Southwestern is key to the success of our strong residential liberal arts and sciences campus model. Gifts to the General Building Fund help to prioritize the maintenance of aging buildings and spaces in order to maximize their continued efficiency, comfort, utility, and ambiance. A strong Building Fund may also provide additional resources for new building projects.

Mood-Bridwell
Hall
The renovation of Mood-Bridwell Hall will positively impact Southwestern’s academic offerings and enhance the learning experience of every Southwestern student today and for generations to come. This renovation project was identified as the University’s most important capital project in the most recent Campus Master Planning exercise. This building serves as the home of the Brown College of Arts and Sciences and currently includes offices for 60 professors, multiple classrooms, space for student organizations, and a beautiful central atrium to accommodate casual gatherings of students and faculty.
Mood-Bridwell Hall was last substantially renovated in 1977 and, while structurally sound, architecturally stunning, and an iconic campus landmark, it falls short of effectively serving the needs of 21st century students and faculty. The renovation will leverage technology and advances in instructional pedagogy to serve Southwestern’s innovative Paideia curriculum and, in so doing, completely redesign and reconfigure 41,805 interior spare feet to serve the needs of current and future students and faculty.
I know we hardly know each other, the fact that you have chosen to fund my education is honestly overwhelming (in a good way). It is so refreshing and brings me a lot of peace to know there are people and organizations out there that make an extra effort to ensure that hard working students have the ability to attend college no matter what.
Residence
Halls
One of the hallmarks of a small, residential college is the camaraderie and lifelong friendships forged by living on campus with peers. All first and second-year Southwestern students are required to live on campus, but the majority of upper-class students choose to remain on campus as well. Southwestern maintains two first-year, coed halls and seven upper-class residence halls, each with different floor plans, room occupancies and their own distinctive charisma. Additional student housing is needed to accommodate the University’s growing student population.
