During Office Hours (M–F, 8am–5pm):
Call Counseling Services at 512.863.1252. Inform the person who answers the phone that your call concerns an urgent situation and request that a counselor respond as quickly as possible.
Crisis (After Hours):
A crisis is defined as:
- Having thoughts of, or an intent to engage in, suicide, homicide, or self-harm
- Being physically or sexually assaulted
- Active psychotic symptoms (seeing or hearing things that are not there or severely distorted beliefs)
- Severe reactions to psychiatric medication
If any of the above is happening and you need to talk to a counselor, they can be reached through Southwestern University Police at (512) 863-1944, or the campus operator at (512) 863-6511. If the crisis is life threatening, please call your local emergency services (911).
